On January 6, 2021, for the first time in American history, the peaceful transition of power was interrupted.
But the insurrectionists have not been defeated: They’ve been emboldened.
In the hours after the attack on the Capitol, the vast majority of Republicans in the US House of Representatives voted against certifying the 2020 election results; in the US Senate, Republicans are filibustering voting rights bills and pro-democracy legislation; in state legislatures across the country, Republicans are pushing through voter suppression and subversion laws.
In short: the Republicans are planning the next coup. That’s where we come in.
